PHILIPS SIMPLICITY EVENT; 2-5 OKTOBER 2006; LONDON-Wake-up Light ?a new, medically proven wake-up lamp, which emits light that gradually increases to the intensity you have selected, simulating the rising sun in your bedroom thus gently preparing your body to wake up. The light falls on your eyes and sends your brain a message to reduce the production of melatonin, the sleep-inducing hormone. Over 30 minutes, the natural light gradually increases to reach the optimal intensity to wake you up at the set time, in a pleasant manner that leaves you feeling energized and ready to wake up. The light intensity can also be adjusted to your own personal preference. The Wake-up Light will be available exclusively in France in October 2006 with a roll-out in 2007.

A simple stroke of the uWand allows users to intuitively point at a device and to scroll, select, play and move elements. The uWand is a simple instrument to control all content at home; from music to films and from TV channels to family photographs. Philips hopes that the uWand will stimulate product designers to rethink user interfaces to make them more simple and designed around the consumer. Philips is planning to initiate a dialog within the electronics industry to introduce the uWand into the consumer market. The uWand is still being developed and its launch timeframe is under discussion.

LivingColors ?an innovative new form of lighting for the home that uses LED lighting to allow you to select from an infinite range of colors. Now you can create whatever atmosphere you like in your room. Both the color and light intensity of LivingColors can be changed using a simple remote control. The colored lighting can be directed at a wall or corner of your room at any angle, or high or low target. Choosing a particular light effect can transform the atmosphere in your room, letting your interior follow your mood. The estimated launch date for LivingColors is early 2007 in select markets.

PHOTO: Ambient Experience Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab) ?designed to improve the workflow of physicians and reduce anxiety of heart patients undergoing catheterization. In a hospital Cath Lab, doctors insert a thin, flexible tube or catheter in a patient's blood vessel to allow access to the heart or blood vessels without major surgery. With the help of X-ray imaging, doctors can then examine, diagnose and treat the patients' blood vessels and/or heart. The system has been designed to support medical staff with special lighting eliminating any shadows or reflections on monitors, and providing equal light distribution to reduce the strain to doctors?eyes. Additionally, the Philips voice control system makes it easier for the physician to communicate with the system without leaving the sterile environment. The system also soothes patients during preparation, examination and post procedure by allowing them to choose a visual theme that can be viewed on the ceiling. Initial results show it is leading to faster diagnoses, lower radiation doses and calmer patients
